My great grandmother was Sarah Frances Yancey. Sarah was born to John A. Yancey and Beck Marshworth Yancey on Feb. 18, 1843 (not in 1943) as listed below in Moore County, NC. She married John Wesley Howell.

I am uncertain if the name of her mother is correct. It might have been Rebecca and was called Beck. Her last name could have been Marshburn or Mashburn as the dialect at the time was somewhat unique.
I would love to have more information on John Yancey and Beck Marshworth Yancey.

My father : Leon Luffboro Yancey
Grandfather: Luffborough Leon Yancey
Greatgrandfather : Robert (L?) Yancy about 1848-1926 Of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Still know nothing about my greatgrandfather. Just found his name mentioned in the will of banker James Harris Fitts. Fitts mentions Patsy, Robert's sister. I had never heard or found anything mentioned known family members for Robert Sr.
All I know about Robert is that he was a carpenter, Presbyterian minister, and his death certificate mentions a John Yancy of South Carolina as his father, mother unknown.
Robert married Eliza Luffborough around 1877, had ten children: John Nathan, James, Robert Lee (Jr.?), Nannie (died at age one month), Luffborough, William, Elina Elmer, Alston Fitts, Helen Alice, and Myrtle Rose.
My grandfather removed the "e" from the surname.

Hi, my name is Lisa Burke. My husband's grandmother was Lilly Mae Yancey daughter of Grover Cleveland Yancey. Lilly's grandfather was William Alexander Yancey. I'm having trouble finding much info on Grover Cleveland Yancey after 1910. It's been told that Grover got in trouble and changed his last name to Lewis which we are finding records on ancestry.com showing a Thomas Lewis but we have found an obit that shows Grover Cleveland Yancey's name spelled Yancey at his death. Please if you have any info on this mystery, we would so appreciate any info we can get. It's such an interesting myster.

I’ve been researching the family tree and cannot document that William J who died in 1969 is son of William Luther. Also curious if there is info about the migration West in family lore.

John Thornton 1718 1787 married Elizabeth Yancy daughter of Lewis Davis Yancy and Winifred ?
John was the son of Dr. Thomas Thornton and Agatha Curtis both born in Virginia.
Thomas was the son of Luke Thornton and Ann Hall (Youell?) and I have two links to Luke and Ann
However I have been unable to find any documentation on the parents of of Elizabeth Yancy although I have the names (maybe). Have you run across this family through Lewis David Yancy?
See above - ran into a new brick wall in the Yanc(e)y family.

Thanks
