I descend from Mary Yancey and her husband, John Baynes, who were my 5th great grandparents. I descend through their daughter, Nancy Baynes Bohannon.

Mary Yancey is in my direct maternal line. I took the mitochondrial DNA test and found two exact matches at FTDNA, both of whose maternal lines can be traced back to Mary Yancey's mother, Elizabeth Ann Thornton. My haplogroup is K2a6.

Lucy YANCEY (1803 VA - 1836 Barren Co KY) & John B. WILSON (1797 VA - 1878 Hart Co KY) were my 3rd great grandparents. Lucy was d/o Joel YANCEY Sr.(1773 VA - 1839 Barren Co KY) & Martha RODES (1778 VA - 1856 KY)

My AncestryDNA test shows a DNA relationship to William Lowndes YANCEY (1814-1863). William Lowndes YANCEY is a descendant of Lewis Davis YANCEY b. ca 1798. I am a descendant of Charles YANCEY II b. ca 1684. Wiliam and Charles were brothers thus the DNA match.

My grandfather, Thurman Yancey, came from Jacksonville Texas. His father's name was Lawrence, and his mother was Cora. Some of Thurman's siblings were Beatrice, Elizabeth, Charles, Lawrence, Travis. His son was Thurman John (my dad). My siblings are Michael Jay Yancey and Melissa Ann (Yancey) Hoyne. My daughters are Cicely Claire Yancey Fredrickson and Anne-Marette Yancey Fredrickson. Melissa's daughters are Whitney Renee Hoyne Calhoun and Markliann Hoyne.
